Description of the applicationWorldwide insurers like the German-based Allianz and the British-based HSBC propose global funds in order to spread the risk across clients as a form of climate adaptation in the aftermath of major flood events since the 2000s in countries across Africa, Asia and Latin America. Allianz has launched local partnerships with NGOs to develop microfinance and specific insurance products, for instance against climate-disaster induced death and disability insurance (Indonesia), but also crop insurance (Brazil) or fishery- and farming-insurances for people living in coastal areas subject to an increased tsunami hazard (India).
